Basketball Game Preview: Gregory Gorillas vs. Lyman Raiders

Gregory and Lyman are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Gregory Gorillas will head out to take on the Lyman Raiders at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Gregory took a loss when they played away from home last Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 74-45 victory over Andes Central/Dakota Christian. The Gorillas have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 28 points or more this season.

Noah Bearshield was nothing short of spectacular: he went 9 of 15 on his way to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cruz Klundt, who posted ten points along with eight assists and five boards.

Gregory was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lyman). They blew past Colome 92-19 on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for the Raiders as they're now sitting on three straight.

Gregory's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.2 points. As for Lyman, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Everything came up roses for Gregory against Lyman in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 72-44 victory. In that match, Gregory amassed a halftime lead of 39-15, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
