Volleyball Recap: Baxter Springs Lions vs. Osawatomie Trojans

The Baxter Springs Lions didn't have quite enough to beat the Osawatomie Trojans on Monday and fell 2-1. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Baxter Springs started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-16, 25-21.

Kadence Underhill paced Baxter Springs' offense, picking up 11 kills. Underhill got some help from Sam Sheffer and her 26 assists. Izzy Simpson controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Osawatomie was led to victory by Avaya O'Brien and Mackenna Minden. O'Brien had ten digs and three assists, while Minden had 17 digs and two aces. Those three assists gave O'Brien a new career-high.

Baxter Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 24-15. As for Osawatomie, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-21 record this season.

Coincidentally, Baxter Springs and Osawatomie will both be playing Jayhawk Linn the next time they take the court. The Trojans will host the Jayhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Lions will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
