Baseball Recap: First Assembly Christian Finds Home Field Redemption Against Millington Central

There's no place like home for First Assembly Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They put the hurt on the Millington Central Trojans with a sharp 8-2 victory on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won nine in a row.

William Lee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because First Assembly Christian is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 1-4 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Henry Jones, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Connor Palmer, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The victory got First Assembly Christian back to even at 4-4. As for Millington Central, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, First Assembly Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Memphis Home Education Association at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Memphis Home Education Association has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something First Assembly Christian will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Millington Central, they will head out on the road to take on Tipton-Rosemark Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
