Baseball Recap: Beachside Gets the Win

Beachside took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Tocoi Creek, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Barracudas came out on top in a nail-biter against the Toros on Friday, sneaking past 5-4.

Brady Anderson tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Beachside saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Mavarez, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was Mavarez's first of the season. Another was Gavin Nickel, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Beachside's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Tocoi Creek, their record is now an identical 11-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beachside will host Providence School at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tocoi Creek, they will be playing at home against Buchholz at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
