Baseball Game Preview: Columbia Montour Vo-Tech Rams vs. Shenandoah Valley Blue Devils

Columbia Montour Vo-Tech hasn't had much luck against Shenandoah Valley recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Rams will head out to take on the Blue Devils at 12:00 p.m. Columbia Montour Vo-Tech has given up an average of 11.4 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Columbia Montour Vo-Tech fell victim to Montgomery and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Red Raiders, falling 13-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Rams were not able to get on the board.

While Shenandoah Valley didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Nativity BVM on Wednesday. Considering the Blue Devils have won four games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Shenandoah Valley let Brayden Maksimik and Landon Monaghan run wild. Maksimik scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Monaghan scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Maksimik is becoming a predictor of Shenandoah Valley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Haden Kechula also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Shenandoah Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nativity BVM only posted an OBP of .333.

Shenandoah Valley's record is now 6-3. As for Columbia Montour Vo-Tech, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Columbia Montour Vo-Tech might still be hurting after the 9-3 loss they got from Shenandoah Valley in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
