Basketball Recap: West Elk Takes a Loss

West Elk was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-44 heartbreaker at the hands of the Udall Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Patriots of the 45-33 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Udall was led to victory by Lilly Hoffman and Kaleigh King. Hoffman went 8 of 17 en route to 23 points and eight steals, while King went 6 for 10 on her way to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks. Hoffman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played.

West Elk's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Udall, their record is now 5-6.

West Elk will take on Udall at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st. As for Udall, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Central at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
