Basketball Recap: Newark Comes Up Short

Newark was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Plainfield Central Wildcats 58-22.

Newark's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Plainfield Central, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Newark will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Marquette at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2026. As for Plainfield Central, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 26-17 loss against Ottawa on the 20th.
