Basketball Recap: Maranatha Christian Comes Up Short

Maranatha Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against the Sumter Christian Bears, falling 81-48. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bears earlier this season, when they won 60-57.

Despite the defeat, Maranatha Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Brayden Murray posted 23 points. Murray continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Bryson McInville, who scored seven points.

Maranatha Christian's record now sits at 3-6. As for Sumter Christian, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Northside Christian School the next time they take the court. Maranatha Christian will host Northside Christian School at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Sumter Christian will head out to face them at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
