Football Recap: DeKalb Comes Up Short

DeKalb lost against King City back in September of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Tigers took a blow against the Wildkats, falling 74-20. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 60-6.

Although DeKalb took the loss, they still got scores from Nolan Huffman, Blake Norton, and Easton Matthews.

Landon Carlson was nothing short of spectacular for King City: he threw for 137 yards and four TDs on perfect 7-for-7 passing, and also punched in one score on the ground. The dominant performance also gave Carlson a new career-high in passer rating (177.1). Another player making a difference was Lucas Boone, who rushed for 108 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

DeKalb dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for King City, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, DeKalb will venture away from home to challenge South Nodaway at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for King City, they will host Albany at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Wildkats' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
