Riverhead proved they can win big on Friday (they won by eight) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Newfield Wolverines. This was payback for the Blue Waves, who suffered a 1-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Riverhead is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Newfield, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-10.

As of now, neither Riverhead nor the Wolverines have any future games scheduled.
