Covington is a perfect 8-0 against Lehman Catholic since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Buccs will challenge the Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. Covington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Covington blew Milton-Union out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Milton-Union got their revenge. The Buccs fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 8-6. It was the first time this season that the Buccs let down their fans at home.

Whitney Burns was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over ten innings while giving up six earned (and two unearned) runs off 13 hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Jayda McClure was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. Cassidy Iddings was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

Meanwhile, Lehman Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 17-10 to Riverside. On the bright side, the ten- run effort marked the Cavaliers' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Covington's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-4. As for Lehman Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Covington came out on top in a nail-biter against Lehman Catholic when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. Do the Buccs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cavaliers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
