Softball Recap: Deep Run Triumphs

Deep Run is still undefeated this season after their matchup against Cosby on Wednesday, but Cosby came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Wildcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the Titans a 2-0 shutout. The two-run effort marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Not much got past Emily Plank, who gave up just four hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Cosby off the board. With that strong performance, Plank is now averaging an impressive 6.2 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Braelyn Baulsir, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

Deep Run's record now sits at 5-0. As for Cosby, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-3-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Deep Run will welcome Glen Allen at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 12 runs per game this season. As for Cosby, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Midlothian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
