Baseball Recap: Roncalli Comes Up Short

Roncalli fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Chilton on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 4-3. The Jets were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Landon Chalupny put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 7.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. Chalupny was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

Chalupny wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sawyer Van Drisse, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Roncalli and nudges their season record down to 8-6. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Chilton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

While Roncalli had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
