Basketball Recap: East Drops Season-High Score on North

East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 19th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the North Vikings, falling 71-45. One positive for the Dragons, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Despite the defeat, East saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aanijah Springfield went 8 of 15 en route to 21 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. Those 21 points gave Springfield a new career-high. Ariyah Carter was another key player, putting up four points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, East smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Ce'Airah Underwood continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for North, posting 39 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Underwood has scored at least a third of North's points. Another player making a difference was Armonie Lewis, who posted 14 points.

East's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for North, their victory ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-14.

East has already played their next matchup, a 54-23 defeat against Firestone on the 27th. As for North, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 75-23 loss against Ellet on the 27th.
