Preview: Pymatuning Valley Lakers vs. Geneva Eagles
The Pymatuning Valley Lakers will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Geneva Eagles at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Ohio (Pymatuning Valley is ranked 225th, while Geneva is ranked 231st).
Last Friday, Pymatuning Valley was beaten by Edgewood 62-32. Pymatuning Valley has struggled against Edgewood recently, as their contest on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mae Struna, who scored two points along with three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for her.
Pymatuning Valley struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Geneva waltzed into their game Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 53-46 victory over Chardon.
Pymatuning Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Geneva, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
Things could have been worse for Pymatuning Valley, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-46 loss to Geneva in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Pymatuning Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
