Christ Church Episcopal and Southside Christian are an even 3-3 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Cavaliers will head out on the road to square off against the Sabres at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Christ Church Episcopal was handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Carolina Academy on Friday. The Cavaliers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Trojans 52-20. The Cavaliers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Christ Church Episcopal's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Michael Martin II led the charge by rushing for 93 yards and three TDs on only 12 carries. Martin II is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last seven games he's played. Jude Hall also helped out with an impressive 132 receiving yards.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Christ Church Episcopal proved: they limited Carolina Academy to a paltry zero yards per carry. The team can thank Banks Horton for the heroic effort on defense: he. Christ Church Episcopal didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.1.
Christ Church Episcopal's defense didn't let Jordyn Rice, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Horton, Victor Sandres, and Rody Barnett, who each picked up one sack apiece. Augustus De Brux got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Southside Christian and St. Joseph's Catholic meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Sabres blew past the Knights 27-7. The Sabres might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 20 points or more this season.
Southside Christian's win came from a few key players Christ Church Episcopal will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was D.J. Lee, who rushed for 148 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Keldin Wrona was another key player, gaining 101 total yards and a touchdown.
Southside Christian pushed their record up to 3-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 6.5 yards per carry in those games compared to only 2.08 in the others. As for Christ Church Episcopal, their record now sits at 6-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Christ Church Episcopal has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 186.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Southside Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 162.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Christ Church Episcopal didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Southside Christian when the teams last played back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with an 11-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
