Basketball Game Preview: Weimar Wildcats vs. Shiner Comanches

The Weimar Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Shiner Comanches at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Tuesday, Weimar was fully in charge, breezing past Bloomington 76-8. While fans of the Wildcats might be used to big wins, the 68-point margin marked the team's biggest one yet.

Meanwhile, Shiner made easy work of Louise on Tuesday and carried off a 66-42 win. Given the Comanches' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 573rd, while the Hornets are ranked 1481st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Shiner's victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.2 points per game. As for Weimar, their win bumped their record up to 14-8.

Weimar was dealt a bruising 65-32 loss at the hands of Shiner in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Weimar was down 39-18.
