Recap: Bellevue West Thunderbirds vs. Elkhorn North
On Tuesday, Bellevue West lost to Elkhorn North on the road by a decisive 67-52 margin. While losing is never fun, Bellevue West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Elkhorn North is ranked second).
Bellevue West lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ahnica Russell-brown, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for Russell-brown. Another player making a difference was Naomi White, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Bellevue West and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Elkhorn North, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Bellevue West will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Totino-Grace. Elkhorn North will be home for the holidays to greet Hastings at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
