Basketball Recap: To'hajiilee Comes Up Short

To'hajiilee suffered their biggest loss since December 6, 2024 on Wednesday. They came up short against the Laguna Acoma Hawks, falling 69-49. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now lost four in a row.

Laguna Acoma's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jazmyne Carrillo led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten boards. Laguna Acoma is 6-2 when Carrillo posts eight or more rebounds, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brianna Carrillo, who dropped a triple-double on 12 points, ten boards, and ten steals.

To'hajiilee's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Laguna Acoma, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.

To'hajiilee will challenge Native American Community Academy/Evangel Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Laguna Acoma, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 55-54 defeat against Jemez Valley on the 17th.
