Baseball Recap: Bryson Comes Up Short

Bryson dropped their record down to 7-4 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Perrin-Whitt Pirates by a score of 12-11. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (ten), the Cowboys still had to take the loss.

As for Perrin-Whitt, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since March 24th.

For Perrin-Whitt's part, Aidan Gill looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The Pirates are 3-1 when Gill allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cole Keeney, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Perrin-Whitt's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 4-6 when he doesn't). Riley Sims was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bryson will head out to challenge Bellevue at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Perrin-Whitt, they will venture away from home to face off against Poolville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Monarchs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Pirates' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
