Football Recap: Central Catholic Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against East Union last Friday, Central Catholic came back down to earth. The matchup between the Raiders and the Oakdale Mustangs didn't end well, with the Raiders falling 60-46. While the Raiders didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mustangs 14-7 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why Central Catholic lost on Friday, don't look at Collin Benninger. Despite the final result, he picked up 124 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Benninger got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 67 yards. Central Catholic also got help from Chase Perino, who showed off his sure hands for 118 receiving yards.

Central Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Oakdale, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Central Catholic and Oakdale should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Raiders (ranked 118th) will meet Mountain House (ranked 556th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Oakdale will challenge Sierra at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (93 vs. 641).
