Basketball Game Preview: Plano Reapers vs. Richmond-Burton Rockets

Plano is a perfect 3-0 against Richmond-Burton since January of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Plano Reapers will host the Richmond-Burton Rockets at 6:45 p.m. The timing is sure in Plano's favor as the squad sits on nine straight wins at home while Richmond-Burton has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.

Plano is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Sandwich: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Plano blew Sandwich out of the water with a 57-25 final score. The Reapers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Plano to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nylah Mathews, who went 5-for-11 on her way to 10 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. What's more, Mathews also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Josie Larson, who went 6-for-15 en route to 14 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Richmond-Burton came up short against Johnsburg on Monday, falling 52-27. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 545th, while the Skyhawks are ranked 251st).

Richmond-Burton's loss dropped their record down to 7-20. As for Plano, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 25-4 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Plano against Richmond-Burton in their previous meeting back in January, as the team secured a 55-21 win. In that game, Plano amassed a halftime lead of 37-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
