Football Game Preview: Andrean Fighting 59ers vs. Angola Hornets

The Andrean Fighting 59ers will head out on the road to square off against the Angola Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Angola will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Andrean extended their winning streak to five on Friday. The Fighting 59ers blew past Highland, posting a 52-13 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Fighting 59ers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Trojans are ranked 212th).

A big part of Andrean's victory came down to the chemistry between Brady Elish and his top target Dylan Gore. Elish rushed for 122 yards and two scores on only seven carries while Gore threw for 202 yards and three TDs while completing 88.9% of his passes. Those three passing touchdowns gave Gore a new career-high. Brady Stovall was another key player, rushing for 69 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries.

Andrean was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 304 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Angola). They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 35-8 win over Fairfield. The game was the first time the Hornets have beaten the Falcons on their field since September 27, 2019.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Angola's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Lucas Lentz and Eric Neilson, who each picked up 0.5 sacks apiece.

The victory got Angola back to even at 3-3. As for Andrean, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
