Basketball Recap: Christ the King Comes Up Short

Christ the King lost against Pine Lake Prep back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Christ the King Crusaders lost to the Pine Lake Prep Pride at home by a 64-47 margin. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Pride are ranked 71st).

It was another big night for Jamie Lawson, who posted 23 points and seven rebounds for Pine Lake Prep. That's the most points Lawson has posted since back in November of 2024. Joseph Bruce was another key player, putting up 13 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Christ the King and nudges their season record down to 7-9. As for Pine Lake Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-4.

Christ the King will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Mountain Island Charter at 7:30 p.m. Christ the King is facing Mountain Island Charter at the right time seeing as Mountain Island Charter is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. Pine Lake Prep has already played their next contest (against Bradford Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
