Ville Platte hasn't had much luck against Mamou recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Ville Platte will head out to challenge Mamou at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Ville Platte turned things around against Northwest on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 22-5 win. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 15 runs or more this season.
Ville Platte got a massive performance out of Laila Lewis, who scored three runs and stole six bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Lewis has posted since back in April of 2024. Janaih Leday was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mamou, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They never let Delcambre get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Thursday.
Ashlyn Thibodeaux made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Kelci Fontenot and Jaidan Richard did most of the damage at the plate: Fontenot scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Richard scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Danilynn Landreneau also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Mamou was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Delcambre only posted a batting average of .118.
Mamou is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-12-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. Ville Platte now has a winning record of 6-5.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ville Platte hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .406. However, it's not like Mamou struggles in that department as they've averaged .340. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ville Platte suffered a grim 19-3 defeat to Mamou in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Ville Platte avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
