Basketball Recap: Aransas Pass Find Success

Aransas Pass waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 53-52 victory over the George West Longhorns. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 566th, while the Longhorns are ranked 1179th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, George West had strong showings from Teagan Collins, who posted 11 points and four steals, and Tristen Blevins, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. What's more, Collins also racked up four rebounds, the most he's had since back in February of 2024.

Aransas Pass' win bumped their record up to 17-11. As for George West, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Taft the next time they take the court. Aransas Pass will host Taft at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, while George West will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on January 22nd.
