Basketball Recap: Prairie View Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Prairie View extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 27 on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-10. They took a blow against the Cherry Creek Bruins, falling 63-7. The contest marked the Thunderhawks' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

They used a three-pronged attack on offense: Lani Waterhouse, Joseline Torres-Escobedo, and Jasmine Crespin posted two points each. Hailey Hockett Leal held things down on the boards with eight rebounds.

As for Cherry Creek, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-4. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Cherry Creek's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ivey Egan-Gibney, who went 7-for-9 en route to 17 points. Thanks to that strong game, Egan-Gibney now owns an excellent 48.8% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Stelter, who posted 12 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Prairie View will venture away from home to challenge Westminster at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026. As for Cherry Creek, after both having extra time off, they and Broomfield will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 2:30 p.m. on January 3, 2026. The Bruins' defense better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 60 points per game this season.
