Football Recap: East Lincoln Starts off Right with Win over South Iredell

East Lincoln took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 60-35 margin over the South Iredell Vikings. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Mustangs just coasted through the last quarter.

Grant Lawless had a dynamite game, throwing for 450 yards and four touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes, and also rushing for 64 yards and four TDs on only five carries. Those 450 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Jaxon Dollar was in the mix as well, providing East Lincoln with three scores.

Tristan Cowan and Brody Hunt certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Cowan threw for 205 yards and three touchdowns, while Hunt picked up 104 receiving yards and one TD.

Coming up, East Lincoln will be playing in front of their home fans against Providence at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for South Iredell, they will head out to challenge North Mecklenburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
