Soccer Game Preview: South Walton vs. Crestview

The South Walton Seahawks will square off against the Crestview Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Walton has three straight wins, Crestview has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

South Walton is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They never let Marianna onto the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Seahawks, who have now won six games by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit Marianna with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Martin Fajardo (3), Michael Codner (2), Gavin Wilde (2), and Nate Lech.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Crestview's offense. They came up short against Choctawhatchee on Monday, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 452nd, while the Indians are ranked 187th).

South Walton pushed their record up to 7-2-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matches. As for Crestview, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

South Walton was able to grind out a solid victory over Crestview in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, winning 2-0. Will South Walton repeat their success, or does Crestview have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
