Softball Recap: Darlington Comes Up Short

Darlington had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-9 to make it 12. They fell just short of the Belleville Wildcats by a score of 15-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Redbirds have suffered since April 23, 2024.

As for Belleville, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 2-8 record. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

For Belleville's part, the team relied heavily on Korynn Potter, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that Potter has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Ava Benash, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Darlington will take on Iowa-Grant at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Belleville, they will challenge Cambridge at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats are facing the Bluejays at the right time seeing as the Bluejays are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
