Softball Recap: Perryville Wins Going Away Against Elkton

After only one run in their last contest, Perryville made sure to put some runs up on the board against Elkton on Wednesday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Golden Elks with a sharp 14-1 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by six runs or more this season.

Taegan Spier was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyle Seidle, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. She also scored a run, marking her first of the season. Taylor McGuirk was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

The victory snapped Perryville's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-5 record. As for Elkton, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Perryville will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Golden Elks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
