Baseball Recap: University Takes a Loss

After flying high against Preston on Monday, University came back down to earth. The Hawks came up short against the Wheeling Park Patriots on Tuesday, falling 11-4. The Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 6-5.

Noah Templeton was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Colson Jenkins also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

University's loss dropped their record down to 9-17. As for Wheeling Park, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-12.

Looking ahead, University will face off against Robert C. Byrd at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Wheeling Park, they will take on East Fairmont at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
