Basketball Recap: Moapa Valley Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Moapa Valley can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Virgin Valley Bulldogs and fell 59-29. The Pirates were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-12.

Moapa Valley's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Claire Cox, who posted seven points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Sienna Neilson, who scored 11 points.

Even though they lost, Moapa Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 21 consecutive matches.

Moapa Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 19-9 record this season. As for Virgin Valley, their win was their 16th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-7.
