Baseball Recap: Richmond-Burton Takes a Loss

Richmond-Burton dropped to 14-11 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They lost 20-5 to the North Boone Vikings. The Rockets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2019.

As for North Boone, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-14. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

For North Boone's part, Zac Slater was excellent, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Slater is becoming a predictor of the Vikings' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 9-13 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Andrew Self, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Richmond-Burton will face off against Grayslake Central at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for North Boone, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Genoa-Kingston at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
