Baseball Game Preview: Trinity Shamrocks vs. Southern Trojans

The Trinity Shamrocks will square off against the Southern Trojans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Trinity has 12 straight wins, Southern has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Trinity's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Christian Academy-Louisville as they made off with an 11-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Shamrocks, who have now won 17 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Southern and DeSales, and DeSales kept the tradition alive. The Trojans came up short against the Colts on Thursday, falling 9-1.

Southern saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lariel Torres, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Trinity's win was their 13th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 28-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Southern, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-15.

Trinity took their win against Southern in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Shamrocks repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
