Volleyball Recap: Cosumnes Oaks Takes a Loss

If Cosumnes Oaks was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Rosemont last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack came up short against the Laguna Creek Cardinals on Thursday, falling 3-0.

While Cosumnes Oaks was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-22, 25-19.

Victor Pinchon paced Cosumnes Oaks' offense, picking up six kills. Pinchon got some help from Jaiden Atienza and his 17 assists. Finally, Jaiden Philip kept Cosumnes Oaks' defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Justin Purba was the offensive standout of the contest as he had 15 digs. That's the most digs he has posted over his last five games. Aiden Nguyen also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

Cosumnes Oaks' loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Laguna Creek, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Cosumnes Oaks and Elk Grove will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 5:30 p.m. on March 25th. Laguna Creek will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Monterey Trail at 5:30 p.m. on March 25th. Monterey Trail will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Laguna Creek surely won't give up without a fight.
