Softball Recap: St. Augustine Catholic Continues Home Dominance on Monday

St. Augustine Catholic won the last time they faced Madison Highland Prep and things went their way on Monday too. St. Augustine Catholic was the clear victor by a 15-4 margin over Madison Highland Prep. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 11 runs or more this season.

St. Augustine Catholic let Maria Martinez and Monique Rocha run wild. Martinez went 1-for-4 with six RBI and two runs, while Rocha scored two runs while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Mia Sofia Hernandez, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: St. Augustine Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

St. Augustine Catholic pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.5 runs over those games. As for Madison Highland Prep, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Augustine Catholic will host Tombstone at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tombstone has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.21 runs per game on average), something St. Augustine Catholic will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Madison Highland Prep, they will welcome Leading Edge Academy - GEC at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Madison Highland Prep's pitchers better be ready for this one: Leading Edge Academy - GEC has averaged an impressive 13.2 runs per game this season.
