Basketball Recap: Brookland-Cayce Bearcats vs. North Augusta Yellow Jackets
Brookland-Cayce lost against North Augusta back in January of 2020 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Brookland-Cayce Bearcats had to suffer through a 64-12 loss at the hands of the North Augusta Yellow Jackets. While losing is never fun, the Bearcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 180th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked first).
North Augusta found their leader in sophomore Ashley Walker, who went 8 of 13 en route to 20 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Walker has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenedi Wright, who went 7 for 9 on her way to 15 points and four steals.
Brookland-Cayce's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-9. As for North Augusta, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 15-1.
Brookland-Cayce has already played their next game (against Liberty), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. North Augusta didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-37 win against Denmark-Olar on the 18th.
