Softball Recap: Ludlow Lions vs. Chicopee Comp Colts
After flying high against Mount Everett Regional last Thursday, Ludlow came back down to earth. The Lions fell 12-7 to the Chicopee Comp Colts on Wednesday. Lions fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Colts since on Wednesday.
Liv Slatton was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave her a new career-low. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, Maddie Gonsalves and Eris Learned stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gonsalves got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Learned got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four RBI. Bridget Schneider also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Ludlow's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-8. As for Chicopee Comp, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ludlow will welcome Holyoke at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Chicopee Comp, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Chicopee at 4:00 p.m.
