League recap: Odeyingbo races to league-leading run for Cistercian

Southwest Prep - North recap September 10, 2013

Cistercian's Dare Odeyingbo rumbled for the longest rushing play in Southwest Prep - North this season in his game against Pantego Christian last week. Odeyingbo scampered for 94 yards on the play and finished with 291 on the day as his team defeated the Panthers.

Fans got a thrill when Tyler Woolsey and Brodrick Umblance connected against Bishop Gorman. The connection was good for 91 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.

Foster Sawyer put up the best numbers in passing as All Saints topped Carter-Riverside. He finished with 12 completions for 233 yards and 5 touchdowns. Sawyer's favorite target this week was Blaze Moorhead, who caught 5 passes for 96 yards.

Umblance was the best receiver in the league this week as Oakridge beat the Crusaders. Umblance tallied 7 receptions for 258 yards. Daylen Johnson helped Oakridge's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 91 yards.

Andrew Beytagh made the biggest impact on defense this week as Cistercian topped Pantego Christian. The 6-foot-2 senior.

Odeyingbo was a beast in the backfield as Steve Mccarthy's team topped Steve Hohulin's team.

Woolsey was a passing and rushing force as the Owls defeated Bishop Gorman. He completed 16 passes for 415 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 68 yards.

Odeyingbo was the best running back in Southwest Prep - North this week. Teammate Jack Albert added to the ground attack by rushing for 56 yards.

Umblance had an awesome week catching the football as Oakridge defeated Coby Gipson's team.

Phillip farhat's team's Woolsey and Umblance have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Woolsey has thrown for 692 yards this season, while Umblance has 12 catches for 319 yards. The Hawks' Odeyingbo leads the league in rushing yards with 454.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Cistercian takes on St. Mark's. As it stands, the Hawks are in fourth, while the Lions are in first.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Cistercian takes on St. Mark's. The Hawks have allowed 21 points this season, while Mark Sullivan's team has given up 20. Cistercian allowed 9 points last week as it beat the Panthers.

The Lions were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to first in the league. Earlier in the week, St. Mark's defeated Mart 40-20.
