Football Recap: Steele Holcomb and Gavin Gutierrez Secure Win for Servite + How To Watch

Servite extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 3-1. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 29-23 W against the Notre Dame (SO) Knights. Given the Friars' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Knights are ranked 61st) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Gavin Gutierrez and Steele Holcomb. Gutierrez rushed for 202 yards and a pair of TDs while Holcomb rushed for 71 yards and two scores on only eight carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns Holcomb has posted since back in August of 2024.

As for Notre Dame (SO), their loss dropped their record down to 2-2. They haven't had much luck with Servite recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Notre Dame (SO) had strong showings from Noel Washington, who gained 59 total yards and two touchdowns, and Wyatt Brown, who threw for 177 yards and one touchdown. 83 of those passing yards were hauled in by Emmanuel Pullins.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After each having a week off, Servite and St. Paul will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. The Friars will be up against the Swordsmen's rather soft defense (which has allowed 46.5 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Notre Dame (SO), they will challenge Culver City at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th.
