Baseball Recap: Corinth's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Corinth had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Watervliet Cannoneers a 12-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Riverhawks, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Edward Maguire made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Corinth is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-9 otherwise. Maguire was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sam Tangora, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Corinth is 4-2 when Tangora posts two or more runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Owen Baker was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Corinth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win (which was Corinth's third in a row) raised their record to 7-10. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Watervliet, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

As of now, neither Corinth nor the Cannoneers have any future games scheduled.
