Baseball Game Preview: Lake Zurich Bears vs. Mundelein Mustangs

Lake Zurich is 1-9 against Mundelein since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Bears will look to defend their home field against the Mustangs at 4:45 p.m.

Lake Zurich is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 16 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Jacobs on Saturday. They fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, Mundelein waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Corsairs by a score of 10-6.

Dylan Trahan looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Caden Earing, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brandon Marano, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

Mundelein's victory bumped their record up to 15-5-2. As for Lake Zurich, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.

Lake Zurich came up short against Mundelein in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 12-8. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
