Baseball Game Preview: El Monte Lions vs. Gabrielino Eagles

El Monte hasn't had much luck against Gabrielino recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 3:15 p.m. El Monte has given up an average of 16 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

El Monte is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 27th straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They lost 12-2 to Arroyo.

Isaiah Standley was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Manuel Montelongo also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Wednesday. Gabrielino came up short against South El Monte, falling 11-0. Gabrielino has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

El Monte's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Gabrielino, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4-1.

El Monte couldn't quite finish off Gabrielino in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
