Baseball Recap: Albuquerque Comes Up Short

The Albuquerque Bulldogs didn't have quite enough to beat the East Mountain Timberwolves on Saturday and fell 9-8. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Erick Aceves was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Maximo Granados, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Aceves wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Albuquerque kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for Albuquerque: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 11.8.

Albuquerque's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for East Mountain, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-5.

Looking ahead, Albuquerque will welcome West Mesa at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Mesa has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.47 runs per game on average), something Albuquerque will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for East Mountain, they will venture away from home to face off against McCurdy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
