Volleyball Recap: Julia Mcivor's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Devils Lake over Harvey

The Devils Lake Firebirds didn't have quite enough to beat the Harvey Hornets on Tuesday and fell 3-2. The Firebirds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Devils Lake actually scored more points across those five sets (98-97), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-20, 16-25, 25-15, 16-25, 15-13.

Devils Lake lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Julia McIvor, who had 36 digs and one assist. McIvor is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 12 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Riley Remmick, who had ten digs and five aces.

The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 4-2. As for Harvey, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

Coming up, Devils Lake will take on Hillsboro/Central Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Harvey, they will face off against Thompson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
