Baseball Recap: Polk County Takes a Loss

If Polk County was riding high fresh off their 18-2 takedown of Tyner Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats fell 9-4 to the Meigs County Tigers on Wednesday. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Tanner Silvers made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaden Branham, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Polk County's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Meigs County, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-3.

While Polk County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
