Soccer Game Preview: Claxton vs. Screven County

The Claxton Tigers will face off against the Screven County Gamecocks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Claxton has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 20 goals over their last three contests.

Claxton barely beat McIntosh County Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Claxton never let McIntosh County Academy get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Tuesday. It was an even better day for Melissa Ajtun as she scored three goals for her team.

Meanwhile, Screven County's game on Tuesday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over Metter. That's two games straight that the Gamecocks have won by exactly two goals.

The win made it two in a row for Screven County and bumps their season record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two games. As for Claxton, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3.

Claxton beat Screven County 8-6 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will Claxton repeat their success, or does Screven County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
