Volleyball Recap: Buena Vista Comes Up Short

Buena Vista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cedar Bluffs Wildcats. The Bison were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Buena Vista sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-18, 18-25, 25-19, 27-29, 17-15.

Samantha Nanfito paced Buena Vista's offense, picking up 11 kills. Nanfito got some help from Lisette Esteban and her 22 assists. Esteban was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Jaydyn Bittinger was the offensive standout of the contest as she had nine digs and five aces. That's the most digs she has posted over her last 12 matchups. Kourtney Christensen also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Buena Vista's record now sits at 1-14. As for Cedar Bluffs, their victory ended a three-match drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10.

Buena Vista has already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Omaha South on the 30th. As for Cedar Bluffs, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against College View Academy on the 30th.
