Baseball Recap: Nutley Has No Trouble Against Caldwell

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cedar Grove, Nutley was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Caldwell Chiefs with a sharp 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Maroon Raiders, who have now won four matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Sean Fealey tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Jackson Poole was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Dominic Saladino also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Nutley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Nutley's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-6. As for Caldwell, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Coming up, Nutley will head out to take on St. Benedict's Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Caldwell, they will host West Orange at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
